Snapshots of Iloilo

Visited Iloilo City again twice this month. Work has been a fly in and out affair from Cebu to Iloilo lately. During breaks, I got to visit somewhere new in Iloilo.

@ West Visayas State University (WVSU)

Founded 1902, West Visayas State University is among the oldest state university’s in the country predating even the University of the Philippines which started in 1908.

The university began in June 16, 1902 as Iloilo Normal School. It became West Visayas State College in 1965 and, eventually, became West Visayas State University in 1986.

Not sure what the installation is. Giant tambyolo?

A for effort.

WVSU’s tambayan and trees provide a good venue for study.

@ Iloilo International Airport

APEC sessions in Cebu is over and the event headed to Iloilo City.

Maskaras and headdresses welcome airport guests. Hopefully, not just for APEC’s sake.

@ Richmonde Hotel, Iloilo Business Park

Megaworld clinched the development project which transformed the old Iloilo Airport in Mandurriao District to Iloilo Business Park. We were billeted in Richmonde Hotel Iloilo for a project meeting incidentally it was also the inauguration of the business park.

Iloilo Business Park. So here’s the usual selfie spot just in front of Richmonde Hotel.

Richmonde Hotel offers very spacious rooms for its guests. However, toilet doesn’t have any lock (or maybe I just don’t know how to lock it. hehe.) and its glass wall blinds has controls located outside the toilet. Good possibly for couples but weird setup for those checked in for business.

The Granary, Richmonde Hotel Iloilo. The buffet breakfast will easily fill your tummy, especially, with unli bacon.
The unexpected strict security in the Iloilo Business Park was due to their guest, Noynoy Aquino. Daming time.
